Rabat – El Salvador is hailing Morocco as a “strategic partner” and a model for development in Africa, according to the country's Vice President, Felix Ulloa.
In a statement marking Morocco’s Throne Day, Ulloa praised the North African nation’s economic and political reforms under King Mohammed VI.
The two countries have been steadily deepening their relationship in recent years. El Salvador opened its first embassy in Africa in Rabat in 2022, signaling a new era of cooperation.
Both nations have expressed interest in expanding agricultural ties, with Morocco offering expertise and El Salvador providing fertile land.
"Morocco's leadership in Africa is undeniable," Ulloa told MAP, Morocco’s official news agency. "Their economic progress and political stability are inspiring for countries like ours."
The Vice President also highlighted Morocco's role in supporting development in the Global South, citing King Mohammed VI's Atlantic Initiative as a catalyst for regional integration.
El Salvador has benefited from Morocco's generosity, including a 100-ton fertilizer donation last year to boost agricultural production.
Beyond economic cooperation, the two nations share a common stance on regional issues. El Salvador has firmly backed Morocco's position on the Western Sahara, a move that has strengthened bilateral ties.
