The UN has long honored and recognized the dedicated efforts of peacekeepers, paying tribute to Moroccan and international personnel deployed in various missions.

As of May 2024, the total number of fatalities recorded among personnel at all UN missions since 1948 reached 4,380.

Sixty Moroccan peacekeepers have died while honoring their peacekeeping services at different UN missions, including MONUSCO, ONUC, UNAMIS, and UNTAC.

From 1948 until May of this year, the number of Moroccan peacekeepers who have died serving in the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINSCA) reached 21.

Moroccan fatalities among MONUSCO reached six in the same period according to UN data.

With 1,714 peacekeepers, Morocco stands as the 8th largest contributor of troops to UN peacekeeping operations.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres honored two Moroccan peacekeepers from FAR last May as part of the annual commemoration dedicated to civilian and uniformed personnel who died in UN peacekeeping operations in 2023.
