Rabat - For the second month in a row, Moroccan football star Achraf Hakimi has been named Paris Saint-Germain’s Player of the Month by French outlet Le Parisien.
The media platform cited his “brilliance, consistency, and decisiveness” as the key factors in securing the honor during what it described as a pivotal month for the club.
“Hakimi did not slow down in December when the capital club returned to playing like a formidable team and secured crucial victories,” wrote Le Parisien.
The publication noted the defender’s role as one of PSG’s most reliable players.
“Already a winner last month, the Moroccan full-back is once again our Player of the Month based on ratings given by our reporters,” the website added.

A standout month for the Moroccan star

Hakimi’s average match rating of 7.68 in December ranked among the highest ever recorded in Le Parisien’s evaluations. Only Kylian Mbappe, who scored 7.83 in January, has achieved a higher score under the current rating system.

The outlet also noted Hakimi’s consistency, saying: “He was never rated below 6 in December, including in Sunday’s match Lens, and particularly shone against Salzburg (7), Lyon (7), and Monaco (8).”
Hakimi’s standout performances in December further solidified his role as a golden player in Luis Enrique’s squad, where his offensive and defensive contributions are equally valued.
Despite his undeniable talent, Hakimi’s omission at the CAF Awards 224 stirred controversy. Ademola Lookman won the African Ballon d’Or. Many have argued that Hakimi deserved the award.
As Lookman stepped onto the stage in Marrakech to claim the trophy, the crowd broke into chants of Hakimi’s name, expressing their belief that the Moroccan star was the rightful recipient. This view was echoed by several football analysts and commentators, who argued that Hakimi’s achievements deserved higher recognition.

Offensive Prowess in Key Matches

Beyond his defensive solidity, Hakimi demonstrated his attacking abilities, delivering three assists for PSG during December.
The Moroccan full-back’s ability to impact all PSG games was particularly evident during the Champions League match against Salzburg, where he was described as “possibly the most influential PSG player on the pitch.”

"Hakimi touched the ball over 100 times in each of PSG’s December matches and occasionally provided the spark of instinct and creativity that even attacking players sometimes lack," the publication added.

His contributions helped PSG secure major wins, including assists for Desiré Doué’s first-ever Ligue 1 goal against Monaco.

According to Opta, he now holds the record for the most assists by a PSG defender in the 21st century, surpassing Maxwell.

Le Parisien concluded its feature on Hakimi, commending his all-around impact.

Behind Hakimi in the December rankings were Vitinha (6.55), Willian Pacho (6.40), and Nuno Mendes (6.31), all of whom delivered strong performances. However, none matched the Moroccan star’s combination of consistency and decisive play.

As Hakimi continues to deliver his best form since joining PSG, his December performances stand as a reminder of why he remains a cornerstone of the team.
