Rabat- The National Office of Railways (ONCF) has unveiled the new design for the Rabat Ville train station, signaling a major upgrade to the Moroccan capital’s transportation infrastructure.

The project, spearheaded by architect Youssef Mellahi—who also designed the eye-catching Rabat Agdal station—seeks to establish a contemporary, aesthetically pleasing, and functional transportation hub.

The decision to use the same architect for both stations ensures a consistent and harmonious architectural style that enhances Rabat’s visual identity, ONCF said.

It added that the goal of the project is to transform Rabat Ville into a modern transportation center that efficiently serves passengers and adds a touch of beauty to the capital's infrastructure.

The design features green spaces, comfortable waiting areas, and improved navigation and accessibility, aiming to create a more efficient and welcoming environment for travelers.

Architect Mellahi has announced that the new Rabat Ville station will include a transparent glass roof reaching 16 meters high, designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding buildings, which typically range from R+3 to R+4 floors.

This design is expected to improve traffic flow, enhance the travel experience, and bolster Rabat’s status as a significant tourist and cultural destination.
