Rabat - Morocco’s Amina Dehhaoui clinched the gold medal in the women’s under-55 kg category at the World Taekwondo Junior Championships, held from October 2 to 6 in Chuncheon, South Korea.

Dehhaoui achieved her victory on the world stage by defeating Russian athlete Aminat Ramazanova in the final match with a score of 2-0.

The young taekwondo star showcased her skills throughout the competition, having previously secured her place in the finals by overcoming Croatia's Ema Bugarinović in a nail-biting semi-final match that ended 2-1 in her favor.

In the semi-finals, Dehhaoui faced a challenging start, losing the first round to Bugarinović. However, she rallied, not conceding a single point in the subsequent two rounds to secure her progression to the final.

The final match was tightly contested, with Dehhaoui and Ramazanova canceling each other out for much of the first round. However, in the last 30 seconds, two decisive body kicks allowed Dehhaoui to take control, concluding the round with a score of 2-0.

Throughout the championships, Dehhaoui was supported and trained by her national coaches Samir Kerroumi, Hamza Kharab, and Reda Rachidi.

The World Taekwondo Junior Championships, first held in Barcelona in 1996, is a biennial event that gathers young taekwondo athletes from around the globe.

This year's championships concluded with gold medals awarded to Korea’s Junho Sim, Morocco’s Amina Dehhaoui, and Individual Neutral Athlete Amir Vykov.
