Moroccan fighter Imad Salhi is set to make his debut at ONE Championship in the martial arts organization’s event ONE Friday Fights 77.
Salhi faces Arashi Sakamoto in a Catchweight (54.88 Kg) Muay Thai contest on Friday 30 August inside Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium.
Salhi, who hails from El Aïoun, Oujda northeast Morocco, owns a 13-1 overall record with eight of his victories coming via knockout.
Salhi announced that he would be joining ONE Championship on August 21, writing on his Instagram account: “It was worth every second of suffering on this long road”.
The Moroccan described signing for ONE as his career’s “highest point”, adding: “It won’t be an easy fight, but the truth is that none was. I’ve been living for this for almost two months, more than seven hours of daily training, from Monday to Saturday”.
“I’m proud because no one has gifted me anything. As my father told me when he heard the news: it was worth all of this [hard work],” he said.
ONE Friday Fights 77 kicks off at 3:30 PM Mecca this Friday, August 30, and will be broadcast live via beIN SPORTS in the MENA region.
