Actualités Maroc
Rabat - French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, were welcomed by King Mohammed VI for a royal dinner today at the Royal Palace in Rabat, marking a significant moment during Macron's three-day State visit to Morocco.

Among the dinner guests were important Moroccan figures, including international football star and Atlas Lion Achraf Hakimi, showcasing the country’s pride.

The visit aims to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations, reflected by the signing of 22 new agreements across various sectors, including transport, energy, and cultural cooperation.

In a keynote address to Morocco's Parliament today, Macron called for a revitalized Franco-Moroccan partnership to address shared challenges, underlining interfaith cooperation, the fight against terrorism, and the management of illegal migration.

He described the relationship between France and Morocco as a “unique bond of friendship” and advocated for a “new chapter” in strategic collaboration as both nations celebrate a milestone anniversary.

Macron articulated his vision for a partnership that unites France, Morocco, the European Union, as well as the broader Maghreb region, stating, “I see the opportunity and necessity to write a new book to face and meet the challenges of the century.”

He deemed it a “historic opportunity” and a “strategic duty” to forge a project that promises prosperity, security, and a new horizon for their peoples and economies.

A key aspect of Macron's address was France’s reaffirmation of its support for Morocco's position on the Western Sahara dispute.

He reiterated that the region's present and future must fall under Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces. Macron also noted the importance of Morocco’s 2007 Autonomy Plan, describing it as the “only basis for achieving a just, lasting, and negotiated political solution.”
