Rabat – Fraudulent listings claiming to sell lost luggage are circulating widely on social media under the name of Casablanca Mohamed V Airport, and the National Office of Moroccan Airports (ONDA) has issued a sharp warning about these “false advertisements”.

In a statement on Wednesday, ONDA said: “We know fraudulent pages exist and several false advertisements are circulating on social networks using the name of Casablanca airport, claiming to sell lost suitcases or luggage.”

The office stressed it has nothing to do with these claims. “ONDA is in no way responsible for these publications or the information shared by these false advertisements,” the statement noted. “These pages or accounts do not represent ONDA, Casablanca Mohammed V airport or any Moroccan airport.”

ONDA also reminded the public that “unidentified and/or unrecovered luggage is managed according to specific procedures involving all stakeholders,” such as airlines and customs authorities.

Last year, Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport set up a special team to fix problems with connecting baggage following travellers’ complaints about lost luggage.

The plan includes adding more staff, improving training for baggage workers, and opening new baggage sorting areas at Terminals 2 and 3. Workers will also get better training on using the automated sorting system at Terminal 1.

ONDA and RAM have promised passengers they are working hard to get all luggage delivered quickly. They say their teams are doing everything possible to solve the issue.
