Actualités Maroc
Rabat - Morocco is currently showcasing its burgeoning aerospace sector at the Farnborough International Airshow, running from July 22 to 26. The North African country hopes to attract global investment with their participation in this key industry event, located just southwest of London.

The event was inaugurated by Morocco's Ambassador to the UK, Hakim Hajoui, and spearheaded by the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE) in partnership with the Moroccan Aerospace Industries Group (GIMAS). It was further supported by Morocco’s Ministry of Investment and Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

The Farnborough Airshow program features a variety of activities, including business-to-government (B2G) meetings and insightful conferences, with the presence of Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Ryad Mezzour.

The show will center on six key themes, which are space, defense, sustainability, innovation, future flight, and workforce. These themes have been curated to facilitate networking opportunities with international industry peers and to explore potential collaborations in various areas.

Morocco has set up an impressive 180 square meter pavilion in the event’s grounds, which serves as a focal point for business meetings to forge strategic partnerships with international stakeholders in the aerospace industry.

The delegation, headed by AMDIE's Director General Ali Seddiki, includes high-ranking officials and industry professionals from both public and private sectors.

Among them are representatives from key institutions such as the National Defense Administration (ADN), Royal Air Maroc, and the Institute of Aerospace Professions (IMA).

Moroccan companies are also leveraging the event to display their capabilities. Notable participants include Bi Engineering, Dona, GLPF, NTS, OB Electronics, TDM Aerospace, Structural Aerospace Morocco, LEANCAM, and Trigo, all eager to demonstrate Morocco's competitive edge in aerospace manufacturing and services.

According to AMDIE, Morocco's aerospace ecosystem comprises approximately 142 firms generating about $2 billion in exports. This sector provides direct employment for 17,000 people, with women constituting 40% of the workforce.

With an impressive 40% integration rate and a remarkable average annual growth rate of 17%, Morocco is positioning itself as a prime destination for aerospace investments.

According to a l’Economiste report in 2019, Morocco ranked 5th globally in this field, trailing behind France, the United States, China, and Germany.
