Rabat - Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch hosted his Guinean counterpart, Bah Oury, in a high-level meeting in Rabat on Thursday, reflecting the deepening bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Guinea.
The talks, also attended by Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, focused on enhancing cooperation across key sectors, reinforcing South-South collaboration, and advancing regional stability.
The meeting highlighted the enduring bonds between the two nations, rooted in historical ties and bolstered by the state visits of Morocco’s King Mohammed VI to Guinea in 2014 and 2017.
Akhnnouch and Bah reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to fostering sustainable economic growth and social development, with Morocco expressing readiness to support Guinea in strategic areas such as agriculture, fisheries, healthcare, and industry.
This cooperation aligns with Morocco’s broader strategy, guided by the vision of King Mohammed VI, to promote solidarity and partnership across Africa, Akhnnouch argued.
He also praised Guinea’s firm stance on Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces, underscored by the establishment of a Guinean consulate in Dakhla in 2020.
Discussions included mechanisms to enhance economic collaboration within the framework of South-South cooperation.
Building on agreements reached during the seventh session of the Morocco-Guinea Joint Commission in July, both sides committed to diversifying their partnership.
This includes advancing public-private partnerships and focusing on key sectors such as vocational training, energy, and food security.
The July session, co-chaired by Foreign Ministers Bourita and Morissanda Kouyaté, concluded with Guinea reiterating its support for Morocco’s autonomy plan as a credible solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
Guinea also lauded Morocco’s leadership in promoting peace and development across Africa.
Both nations expressed alignment on broader African priorities, including the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
They stressed the importance of inter-African cooperation as a model for addressing economic challenges and fostering regional stability.
The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to reinforce ties and work toward shared goals of peace, development, and prosperity for the African continent, highlighting the unique partnership as a symbol of South-South solidarity.
